I’m not supposed to be here — at least that’s what the world told me.

Born into generational poverty in rural South Carolina, I was raised by a mother who had her first child at 14. We didn’t talk about mental health... We survived it. I watched my mother battle depression while raising five children on her own. I witnessed trauma before I could even spell the word. And I learned early on how to smile through sadness and laugh through pain.

By the time I was a teenager, I was carrying the kind of weight that most adults never speak about. I wore it well — through athletics, through jokes, through achievements. But behind it all, I was silently fighting battles with identity, abandonment, and worth. I didn’t know it then, but I was navigating untreated depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation — alone.

My path led me through many chapters: I became a full scholarship college athlete. I wore a badge and served as a patrol officer, school resource officer, and violent crimes detective. I’ve worked in higher education, human resources, and organizational health and wellness. On the outside, it looked like success. On the inside, I was still healing.

Eventually, I surrendered — not just to therapy, but to purpose. I realized that everything I had survived wasn’t meant to break me… it was preparing me. I began the journey toward becoming a therapist — not because I had it all figured out, but because I knew what it felt like to be lost, unheard, and unseen.

Today, I’m a pre-licensed mental health therapist and the creator of Concrete Growth Theory (CGT) — a mental health framework born out of my lived experience and designed to help Black and Brown communities reclaim their healing. I’m the author of the Concrete Blooms workbook series, which guides readers through 30-day healing journeys rooted in self-reflection, affirmation, and growth through adversity.
I also facilitate workshops, lead speaking engagements, and create digital content that sparks real conversations around mental health, identity, and purpose.

This work isn’t just professional — it’s personal.
Because I’ve been the one holding it all together while falling apart.
And I’ve learned that healing doesn’t make you soft — it makes you unstoppable.

So if you’re reading this and wondering whether your story still matters, let me remind you: Even roses can grow from concrete.
